Areas Funded Over the Last Three Years by the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan
Although the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan is working hard to bring a provincial children’s hospital here to Saskatchewan, the Foundation is also trying its best to respond to continuing pediatric health care needs across the province by funding the following areas.

Patient Care – 32%
Care and comfort of children and their families during illness or injury is critical to the healing process. Investing in the delivery of care, availability of programs and even “the little things” go a long way to helping patients get back on their feet and back to “being a kid” even sooner. Over the last three years, the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its donors have invested in:
- the child/youth component of the Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health in Saskatoon
- funding for the pediatric playrooms in Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert
Research – 34%
Leading-edge research paves the wave to enhanced medical treatments, tools and procedures. Saskatchewan children deserve the finest health care possible and by supporting research here in Saskatchewan, it helps attract and keep specialists who strive to be a leader in their fields. Over the last three years, the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its donors have invested in:
- nephrology (kidney disease) research
- National Maternal Child Youth Research Network in conjunction with the other children’s hospital foundations across Canada
Equipment – 30%
Specialized equipment to care for neonatal and pediatric patients is tremendously important as “children are not just little adults.” By providing the child health care providers with the latest technology to treat children, the health care experience for both patient and provider is enhanced. Over the past three years, the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its donors have invested in:
- a pediatric ambulance for Southern Saskatchewan
- two pediatric cardiac ulstrasound machines
- NICU transport monitors
- an HD colonoscope
- pulse oximeters
- pediatric ambu bags
Education – 4%
Sharpening skills and learning about the latest techniques to care for neonates and children is paramount in a child health care provider’s career. Sharing information with colleagues in the same field is also very important. Over the past three years, the Children’s Hospital Foundation and its donors have invested in:
- pediatric nursing conferences for ER and NICU nurses in Regina and Saskatoon
- Alvin Buckwold Child Development Program in Saskatoon
